Katherine Koos will be exhibiting her new sculpture and drawings at ART 101 from February 20 through March 15.
Katherine Koos currently lives and works in Brooklyn. A graduate (with honors) of the Parsons School of design, she has since exhibited extensively in the New York area and beyond and is a regular exhibitor at ART 101. We are very pleased to be presenting this new show.
She was awarded a Full Fellowship at the Vermont Studio Center in 1999, the same year that she was an exhibitor in “Outer Boroughs”at White Columns in NY, and “Size Matters” at Gale Gates et al, in Brooklyn.
In 2003 she participated in “Certain Conditions” curated by Linda Dennis and Sam Fleming, which was seen in both New York City and Belfast, Ireland.
She exhibited at The Phatory, in NYC in 2005; “Brocia’s Aphasia,” “In/Out Of Synch,” and at the Synch Festival in Athens Greece.
Linda Dennis, the curator of "Certain Conditions" wrote, "Katherine Koos...whose intricate time-intensive work defies metaphysical descriptions at the same moment that it evokes associations of multiple meaning...is a testament to the combination of spirit and time taken to create things of enigmatic beauty that need nothing more than themselves as explanation."
Katherine herself: “The work reflects my interest in nature, architecture and science…I believe that the voice of this work is not something that can be described in words but can be heard after long contemplation.”
The exhibit opens on Friday, February 20. The opening reception is on Sunday, February 22, from 4 to 7 pm.
Gallery hours are Friday through Sunday, from 1 to 6 pm. or an appointment may be made by calling 718-302-2242
